If your TV has a SCART connector, you need a cable adapter from DIN 6 to SCART, wired like this (the audio is taken from the audio out using a standard stereo 3.5'' jack): (taken from CPCwiki) If your TV does not have SCART, but composite video input, you must. Either use a RGB to CVBS adapter (using for example an AD724 chip), or
Hi. So recently my old SCART compatible TV stopped working, so we purchased a new 4K Smart TV. I’ve had to purchase a SCART to HDMI lead to connect stuff like my DVD player, and of course the VCR. The cable works fine for the DVD player and for my PS2, but for some reason the TV refuses to recognise when I connect the VCR.
So I have finally bought a new TV and my old Viera 42 inch plasma is consigned to the spare room. The only issue is I want to connect a retro console and and old region free multi DVD player to the new TV. One option I have found is to buy an old dvd/vhs combo which have Scart in and HDMI out so I can use it to convert. The model is DAV-DZ230. The connections on the back of this amplifier are HDMI (for DVD only) and SCART. I've just replaced an old LG plasma screen with a new LGUJ63. The old TV had a SCART connection, so connecting the amplifier to it and having surround sound through DTV was simple (just using SCART-SCART). Although, this newer LGUJ63 doesn't Below you see the pin connectors of a fully switched 21 pin scart cable. If you are fine with your present VCR/DVD to TV setup and don't want to spend more money, you can mutilate the scart connector pins. First of all check that your Alba TV allows to choose AV input manually (remote or on set). If it does, sever the pin connection 8.
A converter cable like this should be ok. Plug the scart connector into your Sky box and the red, white and yellow cables in the corresponding sockets on your tv. Looks like it's switchable either way (tv to Sky box, Sky box to tv) so you'll need to set the switch correctly.
